Job Summary

The General Counsel will partner with the CEO, Senior Executive Team, and Board of Directors to accelerate the execution of the company’s value creation strategy and achieve the Company’s long term revenue and EBITDA financial targets. The General Counsel will support the business in mitigating risks and helps the business increase revenue and profitability by providing sound legal advice.

Responsibilities and Duties

Advise leadership concerning business transactions, claim liability, advisability of prosecuting or defending lawsuits, or legal rights and obligations

Analyze the probable outcomes of cases, using knowledge of legal precedents

Interpret laws, rulings and regulations for individuals and businesses

Represent Oracle Elevator in court or before government agencies

Negotiate settlements of civil disputes

Prepare, draft, and review legal documents (contracts, agreements, leases, etc.)

Manage company’s SIR insurance programs and related claims management process

Evaluate findings and develop strategies and arguments in preparation for presentation of cases

Prepare legal briefs and opinions, and file appeals in state and federal courts of appeal

Evaluate information related to legal matters in public or personal records

Represent the interests of Oracle Elevator in legal proceedings

Research relevant legal materials to aid decision making

Day to day counseling and legal assistance to HR and business units on all aspects of labor and employment law

Handle administrative matters and hearings before federal and state agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, state fair employment practices agencies, and the Department of Labor

Draft position statements and production responses to government agencies

Provide expert advice and counsel on labor relations issues

Participates in strategic business expansion initiatives such as M&A.

Qualifications and Skills

Educational Background:

J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school

Admission and membership in good standing to the Florida bar or another U.S. state bar with the ability to be Authorized House Counsel in Florida

Extensive general experience in a broad variety of legal areas

Professional Experience:

10+ years of relevant experience as a licensed practicing attorney, preferably in the facility/field services industry

Displays “Business Partner” mentality that takes a pragmatic approach to working with the other members of the executive team as they jointly execute on its company’s growth strategy while prudently managing risk

Prior experience working within a private equity backed organization is preferred

Team player with a “can do” attitude that enjoys tackling problems and is comfortable in a “player / coach” role. This is a “hands on” position that will require jumping into the details when necessary

Broad legal exposure in the areas of contract management, M&A, JVs/partnerships, risk management, litigation, and labor relations

Excellent communication and team building skills

Highly analytical individual that is metrics driven with strong decision-making skills and financial acumen

Very comfortable with a wide range of domains including operations, finance, customer service, information technology, data/intelligence, business planning & strategy, and people development

Ability to travel 20-30% of the time.
