Brandywine Realty Trust is seeking General Counsel, who will have oversight and management responsibility for all legal matters, ethics and compliance, risk, and board secretary duties for the organization. The General Counsel serves as a trusted advisor to the executive management team and Board of Trustees. Taking an innovative approach to support strategic business initiatives, the General Counsel will bring relevant business experience in order to effectively collaborate with all company stakeholders.

Responsible for the management of all real estate and corporate transactions, including, acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures, major leases, financings, development, and other investments and major contracts.Ensures the organization complies with all applicable laws, regulations, and rules.Responsible for the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective, timely legal services to the company. Manage the company’s internal and external costs, overseeing inside counsel and engaging outside counsel where needed.Advises the Board of Trustees and executive management team on the legal matters facing the company and corporate governance.Ensures that the company and its employees adhere to the highest standards of ethical behavior, maintaining the company’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and updating as appropriate.Manages and monitors the company’s compliance with its contractual commitments.Responsible for overseeing the proper management of all litigation, legal or regulatory claims. Participates in formulating and administering company policies and developing long range goals and objectives.Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Legal Department. Management responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and providing mentorship for professional growth.

Juris Doctorate or equivalent

Fifteen years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
