Summary
SkillStorm is seeking a solutions-oriented General Counsel who is a demonstrated self-starter with a proven ability to work closely with internal clients and handle multiple legal matters simultaneously.
Reporting directly to the CEO, this senior leadership position requires at least 4 years’ experience as an Associate General Counsel. The successful candidate will be an ambitious, high-energy, experienced lawyer who thrives in a faced-paced technology services environment.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
General Responsibilities
• Serving as lead counsel on transactional matters and deals.
• Serving as legal representative on cross-functional internal teams and interacting with external counsel, advisors, vendors, and business partners.
• Directly supporting business development activities, including the review and negotiation of strategic alliance agreements, commercial partnerships, joint ventures, and other business relationships, both domestic and international.
• Assisting internal clients with contract negotiation and RFP responses, as appropriate, as well as providing guidance and practical solutions.
• Assisting with other legal and risk management matters, including with respect to legal operations, acquisitions, insurance, or litigation matters.
• Providing advice and guidance to corporate, business unit, and project management on a variety of legal matters, including contract and subcontract interpretation and negotiation, regulatory compliance, dispute resolution, internal investigations, labor and employment laws, and corporate governance.
• Partnering with other departments to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements applicable to government contracts and supporting the investigation and remediation of related concerns as needed.
• Drafting and reviewing correspondence, internal memoranda, and other documentation, and conducting legal research as required, in support of all internal clients.
• Supporting the management of all aspects of litigation, bid protests, arbitration and mediation, including oversight of outside counsel and negotiation and resolution of disputes.
• Managing the company's intellectual property by proactively protecting the brand and other intellectual property.

Education & Experience
• J.D. degree and at least 4+ years of in-house, commercial, government, and/or law firm experience with a strong focus on commercial or government contracts.
• An active license in good standing of a Bar of any state, and eligible to be admitted as a member of Florida or Virginia under respective in-house registrations.
Knowledge & Skills
• Strong corporate citizen with a work ethic whose experience includes reviewing, drafting, and negotiating a wide range of contractual agreements, intellectual property law, regulatory law, advising on employment law matters, and assisting with M&A transactions.
• Experience drafting, negotiating, interpreting, ensuring compliance with, and resolving disputes relating to contracts, subcontracts, and other agreements involving U.S. government contractors.
• Intellectual curiosity, excellent written and verbal communications skills and ability to apply experience and reliable judgment to legal matters in a fast-paced business.
• Knowledge of federal government contracts law and associated statutes and regulations preferable.
• Attention to detail and ability to ramp-up quickly in new environments and teams.
• Organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to spot errors.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize work, and manage time efficiently.
• Sound business judgment that allows you to navigate ambiguity, work independently but also escalate issues when necessary.
• Ability to work with varying seniority levels, including internal staff, managers, and external partners.
• Highly responsive with excellent communication skills and a desire to deliver superior client service. Ability to contribute successfully to cross-functional team.
• Ability to manage multiple projects that may vary in nature and scope, follow through and meet deadlines.
• Read and understand complex contracts, regulatory documents, and regulations.
