General Counsel

Job Summary

The General Counsel is a key member of the organization and has primary responsibility and accountability for day-to-day legal matters. 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Reviewing and drafting agreements, assisting with commercial contract negotiations, and providing general legal support to the Company
Identifying and analyzing legal risks with respect to the activities of the Company
Selecting, engaging and managing external counsel
Reporting to the General Counsel of INPEX Corporation on all relevant legal matters and working closely with the General Counsel of INPEX Corporation to ensure proper policies and procedures are put in place to comply with all applicable laws and regulations, and with the rules and policies of the INPEX Group.
Establishing and maintaining a good relationship with local authorities, business partners, business associations, and stake holders of the Company
Leading, supporting, supervising and monitoring all activities executed by the legal group
Any other duties which may be directed by President or the General Counsel of INPEX Corporation
 

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience

Minimum 6+ years in a similar role in the oil and gas industry
 

Education, Training, Licenses and/or Certifications

License to practice law in the State of Texas
 

Minimum Requirements

Extensive oil and gas experience (shale operations a plus)
Ability to work with all levels of staff members within the organization
Analytical, commercially pragmatic and solution-oriented
Ability to work under pressure, meet individual deadlines and manage priorities, as well as team deadlines
Ability to work independently and be proactive with a transformation mind-set
Ability to work in diverse cultural environment
Ability to multi-task and establish priorities
Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively
Must have excellent leadership and organizational skills
Available and willing to travel as necessary to meet business needs
