General Counsel

Evers Legal has been exclusively Retained to recruit the first General Counsel for Nutritional High, a publicly traded (Canadian stock exchange) start-up in the emerging cannabis industry. This is an opportunity for an entrepreneurial attorney who can solve problems, take initiative, and add real value.

The position is based in Emeryville, CA, just north of Oakland and about 10 miles from San Francisco. You will essentially take charge of all legal aspects of U.S. operations. We seek a corporate background — commercial transactions, M&A, etc. We do not need securities expertise, as that is handled via outside counsel in Toronto. Cannabis industry experience a plus but truly not required. Experience working in a regulated environment obviously helpful. A current Senior Counsel or Assistant General Counsel seeking his or her first GC role = likely ideal. But we will consider straight-from-law-firm candidates who can demonstrate the right culture fit. Litigators are respectfully discouraged from applying. We want a candidate who can bring commercial transactions best practices to the table.

Target experience level is 7 to 12 years. Local candidates preferred, but we will accept resumes from all and then assess as the candidate base develops.
