HubHaus is a shared housing startup, giving everyone access to a community and a home in every major city across the country, We’re powering a new approach to community housing - creating shared living spaces which are convenient, affordable, and purposely designed to support openness and friendship.

We are a small, fast growing startup in the co-living space that is expanding rapidly. Over the past 2 years, our community has grown from scratch to generating over $10M/year from members across 25 cities. We'll continue our rapid expansion over the next year as we push into new markets and bring the HubHaus experience to more people across the country.

The General Counsel will play a critical role as HubHaus continues to expand across the country. He or she will develop and our legal and regulatory strategy across the various municipalities in which we operate and are considering moving to. If you have strong legal background with a focus on regulatory issues and like working in a fast paced environment on a new market category then this role could be for you.

This role will be responsible for developing a legal and regulatory strategy across new and existing markets, executing on the strategy, working with regulators, managing outside counsel when necessary and owning HubHaus' legal documentation.
Responsibilities
Developing an overarching legal and regulatory strategy for HubHaus
Adjusting the overarching strategy based on new and existing market nuances
Researching and developing legal and regulatory strategy recommendations for new markets
Working with regulators to overcome roadblocks
Owning legal documents and risk mitigation for HubHaus
Managing outside counsel when needed
Advising on community relationships approach as needed
Qualifications
A JD and licensed to practice in California
5-7+ years of legal experience with a focus on regulatory affairs
Strong strategic regulatory skills
Ability to manage outside counsel
Experience working in new market categories is a plus
Experience working on housing related issues especially with complex leases is a plus
A public affairs background is a plus
