The HumanGood General Counsel is the chief legal officer and oversees HumanGood’s legal affairs by providing legal services (emphasis is in health care law, employment law, labor law, bond finance, contracts, real estate) required by the organization to protect the organization from legal action. Provides legal consultation for all HumanGood affiliated corporations. Manages the legal and governance department team members and budgets.

 
Qualifications
 
Education/Experience/Training

Juris Doctor from an accredited law school with an active bar membership in good standing in at least one state, preferably California.

Seven years in-house counsel or relevant law firm experience in the senior housing health care field.

Knowledge of and experience in contracts, health care law, employment law, labor law, union negotiations, real estate law, risk management, tax-exempt organization law, and charitable and irrevocable trusts.  ERISA law and intellectual property law a plus.

Knowledge of and experience in acquisitions and development of retirement communities including CCRCs, affordable housing communities, freestanding assisted living and dementia communities and related businesses, and foundation operations.
