Chief Legal Officer

Primary Purpose: The Senior Vice President & Chief Legal Officer is responsible for providing counsel, oversight and management for all legal and risk matters arising out of or related to the activities and operations of UC Health and its hospitals, facilities and physicians. He or she leads and supervises the Office of General Counsel, which consists of the Department of Legal Services, the Department of Contract Management, and the Department of Risk Management and manages and oversees the administration and delivery of all legal services and risk management for the organization. He or she also works closely with and advises the Department of Corporate Compliance and Business Ethics.  He or she provides counsel and legal advice to the Board of Directors, the President and Chief Executive Officer, senior leadership and management as requested or appropriate.

Qualifications
 
Knowledge and Skills:
 
Education: Juris Doctor -Law, minimum required. 

License and Certification: Juris Doctor degree from accredited law school. Licensed to practice law and in good standing in in the State of Ohio. Licensed to practice law and in good standing in in the Commonwealth of Kentucky preferred.

 
Years of Experience: Ten to fifteen years equivalent experience. Sixteen to twenty years, preferred.‎

Required Skills and Knowledge: Strong analytical and leadership skills. Able to work effectively under strict time constraints. Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to interact well with people from various levels in the organization. Superb organizational skills and judgment.
