General Counsel and Director of Risk Management

The General Counsel/Director of Risk Management is responsible for all in-house litigation, including all commercial, construction, and administrative (DEP, EHB, OSHA) claims.  The General Counsel will also be responsible for all mediation, arbitration and settlement negotiations.  The General Counsel/Director of Risk Management shall possess a degree from an accredited Law School and shall be licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Essential Functions:

Provide legal advice and risk management through all phases of construction, including bidding, project completion and close out.
Provide legal guidance regarding change order disputes and potential delay claims
Represent and/or oversee the representation of the Corporation in all commercial and construction arbitration, litigation and bond/insurance claims
Initiate and defend collection actions
Coordinate and oversee activities of outside counsel
Assist in the development of the corporations’ business plan
Oversee Safety Director in implementing safety compliance
Assist and advise on all legal matters for all projects as directed by the CEO and/or Board of Directors
Assist Associate General Counsel with corporate governance, human resources and compliance issues.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position will have supervisory responsibility for the Associate Counsel. 

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Physical Effort:

Light physical effort, requires handling of average-weight objects up to 15 pounds and some standing and walking.

Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 4:30pm. Evening and weekend hours may be required as job duties demand.

Travel:

Light travel may be required.
