Primary responsibilities for this role involve general business and health care contracting issues, public sector law and health care law with the ability to provide assistance with litigation matters as necessary. Provides legal advice and counsel to administration and clinical staff regarding legal matters, including informed consent, privacy, disclosures to law enforcement and other state and federal agencies, medical staff issues (including peer review), and regulatory rule interpretation and compliance requirements. 

Education and Experience Requirement
Minimum Education:

A degree from an accredited law school, strong academic credentials, and be licensed to practice law in Wisconsin or eligible to seek admission to practice in Wisconsin.
General knowledge and experience with health care, business and governmental laws and regulations.
 Minimum Work Experience:
Must have 3-5 years of relevant experience in a hospital setting, health care environment, or law firm, with practice primarily focused on business and/or health law related issues.
Experience working with public sector entities is helpful.
Knowledge of Wisconsin law pertaining to the delivery of health care and corresponding regulatory requirements.

Driving Requirements:
Valid Wisconsin driver's license and appropriate auto insurance coverage as required by NCHC.
Must have the use of a personal vehicle.
 Preferred:  
Preference will be given to candidate with 5-8 years of relevant experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform sophisticated legal research, investigations and analysis with regard to a wide range of legal, legislative, policy, and administrative matters; provides timely, accessible and sound legal advice on legal issues arising in the context of healthcare regulation, risk management, governance and parliamentary procedure, privacy and public information, ethics and conflicts of interest, fiscal accountability, employment law, and other legal matters. This includes advising the CEO on the practical aspects of applicable laws and any associated risks to foster strategic thinking and decision making.
Prepares legal memoranda and other documents for filing in administrative matters; provides oral and written reports and recommendations on findings and outcomes to the CEO and/or Governing Board or directly to other Executives when appropriate, and makes recommendations for action and implementation.
Responsible for projects assigned regarding the development, negotiation and maintenance of contracts on behalf of North Central Health Care.
Responsible for ensuring all relevant facts and legal considerations are assembled, assessed and accurate before contracts are presented for execution as it relates to all business transactions.
Educate NCHC Management on contract review requirements.
Assist with internal and external federal, state and industry compliance activities.
Ensure that transactions are consistent with federal, state, local and contractual compliance obligations.
Oversee and manage the work of outside legal counsel when requested.
Assist in the review and development of NCHC policies.
Provide legal advice and assistance to the NCHC Board on Board legal matters. 
Provides day-to-day legal advice to management.
