Eyeota is looking for an experienced analytical General Counsel and Chief Privacy Officer to head our Legal Department in optimizing our organizational efficiency regarding legal and privacy matters. The General Counsel and Privacy Officer will be responsible in advising, drafting and executing on data protection, privacy laws and regulations affecting business activities globally with focus on EMEA and Americas. You will help business stakeholders understand and address data protection and privacy issues as they emerge in the development of new products and technologies. You will also review commercial contracts and be expected to stay abreast of developments and trends in the data and data protection space, privacy laws and regulations.

To ensure success, you need to have sound knowledge and understanding of applicable global privacy laws and regulations, represent Eyeota with government and industry groups on data protection and privacy issues, and have the ability to make prudent legal decisions.

This role will be based in either our NY or London location and be a Global role - we are looking for the right candidate to join the company.

This role will report into our CFO based into the CFO.

Responsibilities:

Provide strategic direction to Eyeota regarding existing and emerging local and global privacy and data protection laws.

Counsel on commercial contracts in proposing innovative approaches and solutions that are compliant while enabling the business.

Monitor and execute new privacy laws and regulations eg. GDPR / CCPA.

Build and execute strategic and comprehensive privacy program that defines, develops, maintains and implements policies and processes that enable consistent, effective privacy practices for compliance and minimizes risk.

Ensure privacy forms, policies, standards, and procedures are up-to-date.

Examining and creating draft agreements, such as reviewing employment terms and creating vendor agreements.

Maintaining knowledge of organization’s operations and legal documents.

Conducting legal research and reviewing company's litigation strategy pertaining to legal actions.

Promulgating and creating directives of corporate acts and decisions.

Preserving all corporate records.

Handling statutory filings, such as licensing forms.

Liaising with outside counsel regarding their assignments.

Creating new entities and managing organization's intellectual property.

Experience:

Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.

6+ years practice with an established law firm or as a General Counsel.

Subject matter expert on requirements of data protection and privacy act and comprehensive understanding of statutes, regulation and guidance.

Deep knowledge in GDPR, ePrivacy and CCPA.

Prior legal experience in fund investments, venture capital financing and M&A an advantage.

Experience with corporate governance issues and corporate secretarial duties.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Knowledge of statutes, rules and regulations pertaining to businesses.

Proficient understanding of business sensitivities and confidentiality.
