General Counsel

As the company’s General Counsel, you will report to the CEO and work closely with all senior management. The General Counsel is an officer of the company, serves as a member of the senior leadership team, and must effectively balance the current business needs of the company with longer-term legal protection and risk mitigation.

In This Role You Will

Manage the company’s internal legal function and staff

Manage all outside counsel

Advise executives on contract status, legal risks, and business terms of various deals

Provide assistance with strategic partnerships

Provide continuing guidance on legal implications of all matters, and develop solutions to complex legal questions

Work with business development teams to negotiate and document deals of all sizes

Provide assistance with financing and equity deals

Keep abreast of legal and regulatory changes that may affect the company and its strategic goals

Ensure that the company operates in compliance with applicable laws and regulations

Guide the development of corporate policies and procedures

Manage and ensure the protection of the company’s IP portfolio

Manage and supervise any litigation involving the company

Provide training to company employees on substantive legal topics

We Are Looking For

Law degree from a top tier program

California Bar admission in good standing

Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple projects effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

Superior written and verbal communication skills that resonate with different audiences, both legal and non-legal; must communicate well without sounding like a lawyer

Ability to build and maintain strong relationships
