The General Counsel, CLO & Secretary will be responsible for playing a key role within the Executive Leadership Team to provide sound legal counsel and make recommendations to management on matters of significance. Will oversee all in-house legal activities for both the Conformis Intellectual Property portfolio as well as various projects with shifting priorities and deadlines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Oversee all legal operations and drive legal strategy.
Manage, direct, and support the Legal team. Hire, train, develop, teach, coach, mentor, motivate, discipline, and reward staff members.
Meet regularly with direct reports to review performance, identify any issues, and set expectations of goals.
Educate and provide counsel to Executive Leadership Team on compliance, risk management, legal issues, and corporate governance.
Support a wide array of departments including Sales, Operations, HR, Clinical, Finance, and Marketing; assist with various legal matters including general risk management, data privacy, employment, and intellectual property.
Convey complex legal principles clearly and concisely.
Interpret laws, rulings, and regulations and determine how they apply to Conformis.
Provide alternative solutions to minimize liability exposure while achieving business goals.
Ensure internal policies, procedures and program performance are consistent with current state, federal, and industry regulations.
Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

JD from an accredited university.
Must be an active member of the Massachusetts bar (or other state bar, if intending to pass the Massachusetts bar) in good standing.
7-10 years of experience practicing in the corporate department of a large firm or equivalent experience.
Demonstrated understanding of business problems related to assigned legal projects.
Demonstrated ability to monitor the work of direct reports to ensure quality, accuracy, and thoroughness.
5+ years of previous experience in a supervisory role.
Proven experience providing timely legal advice in a highly regulated environment.
Excellent presentation skills.

Able to manage legal issues cross-functionally and work effectively with strong-minded colleagues.
Ability to travel up to 10%, both domestically and internationally as needed.
