The Head of Legal and Chief Privacy Officer for BrightInsight, Inc., will be based in San Jose, CA, and will be a critical member of the Executive Team responsible for advising senior leadership on all legal and privacy matters related to the business. The Head of Legal will be further responsible for negotiating global commercial transactions with customers as well as advise on data privacy and security, medical regulatory, intellectual property, corporate governance and other matters related to the company. This will require that the person provide strategic, legal and privacy related counsel and leadership to the entire BrightInsight Executive Team to support their goals and objectives and to ensure adherence industry regulations

Here is a glimpse of what you’ll do:

Serve as the authority and point of contact for all legal matters relating to the business, product, and compliance.
Serve as Chief Privacy Officer addressing security and privacy requirements and managing all related issues.
Negotiate, draft and resolve all manner of commercial transactions with customers, partners and vendors including complex matters involving intellectual property ownership, licensing, software,  privacy and product development.
Advise the business on day to day legal issues that impact the direction of the business and help reduce overall business risk.
Identify highly complex legal issues related to business, develops alternative solutions, and implements resolutions.
Work closely with regulatory team to address medical regulatory and quality requirements.
Keep current on changes of laws related to the business.
Manage outside counsel on corporate, commercial, data privacy, security and medical regulatory matters.
Lead the corporate governance function and supports any reporting requirements.
Select and direct outside counsel in M&A and other transactional matters
Here is some of what you’ll need (required):

Requires a Juris Doctor (J.D.)
10 years of related experience
Experience providing legal assistance to executive-level clients in a technology environment
Demonstrates mastery of functional knowledge in relation to other functions and a complete understanding of the function and those of related businesses.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret the most complex documents.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of executives and customers.
