Overview of Role

We are looking for a thoughtful and passionate general counsel to provide  legal guidance, draft and review contracts, oversee compliance functions, advise on employment issues, conduct legal research, respond to regulatory inquiries, oversee outside consultants and assist the senior leadership team with special projects. This is a fantastic opportunity to be a key member of our team that is critical to ensuring the thoroughness of our loan origination process and delivering a world-class experience to our borrowers during a pivotal stage of our company's development.

Your Background and Skills:
5 to 10 years' experience working in a legal, corporate or governmental environment interfacing with senior leaders
Proven experience performing legal research
JD from an accredited law school and are licensed to practice in New York 
Strong leadership capabilities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple projects simultaneously
Excellent project management and task tracking skills
Proficient with MS Office and Google applications
Experience with applicable lending laws a big plus
As part of the Operations team, you will:
Provide legal and non-legal advice to key individuals in the company, including policy recommendations with respect to the private student lending  industry, general corporate, real estate, litigation, employment or regulatory matters involving the activities of Climb
Work closely with the CEO on legal matters impacting Climb
Manage the compliance function including including licensing and regulatory examinations
Review and provide guidance on loan sale and loan servicing agreements
Review contracts including leases, advertising and marketing agreements, software agreements and vendor agreements
Review marketing/advertising copy
Review and advise on compliance policies
Manage legal needs of lines of business engaged in strategic partnerships, including working with outside counsel
Review software vendor contracts, particularly as they relate to borrower data and PII
Analyze and summarize existing agreement terms
Review and editing of compliance related materials and policies
Devise processes to help support a rapidly-growing business
