Job Description

As Head of Legal, you will take on a wide range of responsibilities to support the development and execution of corporate strategy. You must be highly motivated, capable of cross-functional problem solving, and offer deep expertise in legal matters.  You will join a high-performing executive team that shares a genuine commitment to our mission and our values.

What you'll do:
Build our core legal processes and lay the groundwork for building and scaling Shield AI’s legal organization in the future
Lead the execution of overall legal strategy and act as the primary advisor to the CEO and executive team on a full spectrum of legal and related matters pertaining to regulatory compliance, federal and commercial contracting, intellectual property, human resources, finance, tax, accounting, and governance.
Partner effectively with program managers and other internal and external stakeholders to draft and review agreements, negotiate key matters, and assist with proposal development, contract administration, and customer contract activities.
Ensure compliance with regulations and contract requirements, including through the use of proactive strategies, represent corporate interests to regulatory bodies, and advise on policy matters.
Refine, execute, and monitor a comprehensive strategy to protect, enhance, and leverage Shield AI’s intellectual property portfolio.
Augment internal expertise and resources through the effective management of outside counsel.
People we're looking for:
5+ years of experience in transactional matters relevant to government contracting gained at a nationally recognized law firm and in-house with a major firm
Juris Doctorate degree from a leading accredited University
Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to serve as a spokesperson on assigned matters and interface effectively with cross-functional teams and customers
A business mindset with a proven ability to identify creative and pragmatic solutions, conduct rapid and rigorous analysis, and attend equally to matters strategic and tactical, legal and adjacent
Demonstrated excellence at assessing risk and the implementation of proportional mitigation strategies
Exceptional self-awareness and interpersonal skills
Other preferred experience:
Deep expertise in the area of federal contracts and related intellectual property considerations
Possesses an exceptional network of trusted resources to assist in the navigation of a full spectrum of legal matters
