The General Counsel for Flex Digital Health will be based in San Jose, CA, and will be responsible overseeing and supporting global commercial transactions as well as intellectual property transactions, such as licensing, IP litigation, trademarks filings and litigation. This will require that the Corporate Counsel provide strategic, legal and IP-related counsel and leadership to Digital Health’s executive, financial and business teams in order to support their goals and objectives and to ensure adherence to corporate and legislative requirements.

Here is a glimpse of what you’ll do:

  • Manage outside counsel on commercial and intellectual property litigation.
  • Trademark support for a diverse trademark portfolio, including trademark oppositions.
  • Intellectual property licensing.
  • Support for mergers and acquisitions.
  • Foreign and domestic commercial transactions covering manufacturing, materials, intellectual property, inventory, services and financing issues.  
  • Facilitate negotiations, resolve and draft all manner of IP and commercial transactions with executive-level internal clients including complex matters involving indemnity, intellectual property ownership, licensing, software, outsourcing, privacy/security, hardware, joint design, and development.
  • From time to time you may be asked to develop and provide legal training to internal clients on an as-needed basis.

Here is some of what you’ll need (required):

  • Requires a Juris Doctor (J.D.) Degree. Master of Laws (LL.M.) Degree preferred
  • 10 years of related experience
  • Experience providing legal assistance to executive-level clients in an international manufacturing environment; should have knowledge of software and hardware
  • Qualified candidates must have in-depth knowledge of Biology including several years of experience supporting this field in a similar role
  • Demonstrates mastery of functional knowledge in relation to other functions and a complete understanding of the function and those of related businesses.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret the most complex documents.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and customers.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference to practical situations. 
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
