JOB FUNCTION:

The General Counsel provides both advice and support to the President and Executive team on company strategies and their implementation and manages the legal functions including risk, litigation, and contract management. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and industry specific requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Lead and manage MPW’s internal legal function and staff.
This position is directly involved with negotiating contracts, managing lawsuits and claims, and incident management.
Position oversees all outside counsel work.
Oversee all incident management and incident management systems and works with MPW insurance suppliers.
Manage general human resources operations within the Legal and Risk departments (including, but not limited to: talent acquisition, retention, personnel workflow, training and development, succession planning, and employee relations.)
Responsible for developing budgets, generating reports, and presenting updates to the Executive team.
Take initiative to oversee the creation of new processes and improvements for existing practices and policies.
Keep informed of new laws, regulations, and industry trends, and develop and implement appropriate courses of action.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Due to the nature of the business as a 24/7 service company, non-traditional availability may be required as a regular part of the job.
Travel to various MPW and customer sites as needed. (20- 30 overnights required annually)
This position is a member of the Executive Management Team and is expected to support and comply with company policies and to cultivate the MPW culture.
The position is a member of the Executive Safety Committee and is expected to be a leader in driving and improving safety.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
QUALIFICATIONS:

JD and active member of a state bar
Over 10 years of management and risk analysis experience
Over 10 years of legal experience
Strong business acumen.
Excellent analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills.
