General Counsel

MP Materials owns and operates Mountain Pass, the only Rare Earth mining and processing site in North America. Rare Earths power the modern economy. They are essential components in a wide range of industrial, clean energy and information technology applications.

The General Counsel will report directly to the CFO and will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all legal issues and relationships for MP Materials mining and processing site in Mountain Pass, California, approximately 50 miles south of Las Vegas. Work will be performed from either the executive office in Las Vegas or the Mountain Pass mine site, in accordance with expectations and business needs.  

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide accurate legal guidance to the executive staff on all matters that affect the company
Monitor, track and coordinate all legal affairs within the Company
Recommend scope and timing of all legal activities and actions
Coordinate the selection, assignment and relationships with outside counsel
Maintain company records
Act as Recording Secretary to the Board of Directors
Ensure that the company is in compliance with all current business process laws
Advise and coordinate advice on regulatory permitting
Provide general advice with respect to employment and similar laws, including applicable federal and state regulations
Create vendor contracts and contractor agreements
Complete any other tasks as needed or as directed by management

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

·         Minimum 5 years related experience required

Minimum 5 years experience working with state and federal regulators and government agencies, MSHA experience is a plus
Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
 

REQUIRED EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE

Must be licensed to practice law in California
Valid Driver’s License and a good driving record are required in order to drive company vehicles on property
