Keeps is a modern, full-service healthcare company dedicated to expanding access to high quality, affordable healthcare. We’ve started by helping men keep their hair and are changing how guys manage their health by providing a direct and discrete line to quality physicians and selling our own line of FDA-approved treatments at half the price of the competition.

We understand that guys just want an easy and affordable way to take control of their health — and we’re redefining what it means to have access to care. We are building a brand that reflects our values: clever, straight-forward, relatable.

With funding from the leading venture capitalists in consumer products — including Maveron, First Round, Imaginary, and Greycroft — and recognized leaders in the product, design, and entrepreneurship world, we’re well on our way to becoming the first healthcare brand that people can truly love.

The Role
We are building a new type of healthcare company, rethinking both delivery of care and the pharmaceutical supply chain.  We operate a telemedicine platform that covers over 80% of the US population and sell our own line of FDA-approved drugs. As a fast moving company with complex operations in a highly regulated and rapidly changing industry, we are faced with novel legal issues on a regular basis. We’ve worked exclusively with outside counsel to date, and we’re looking to bring on our first in-house lawyer. This hire’s responsibilities will span numerous areas, from ensuring the company operates in a compliant and consumer friendly manner to actively participating in business development negotiations and corporate structuring discussions to managing general corporate governance.

The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, business-minded attorney with experience at emerging companies that operate in a highly regulated space. We look for people that are able to work well cross-functionally, both internally with teams ranging from tech to customer experience and externally with partners and vendors. We are an early stage company, so everyone should be ready to roll their sleeves up and work towards creative solutions.

This role will report to our Co-Founder.

You’re the right person for this role if you are:
An experienced lawyer who thinks of creative solutions to problems in an innovative and fast moving space.
Enthusiastic about digging into the minutiae of state telemedicine rules one day and negotiating with the management of a Fortune 500 partner the next.
Able to balance and manage risk while maintaining a nimble and innovative culture.
A fast learner who can get up to speed on a range of issues quickly while also knowing how to work effectively with outside counsel.
Effortlessly able to juggle multiple initiatives while prioritizing work to meet deadlines.
Excited to be part of a growing team, take initiative, and drive results.
A team player with no ego who is eager to dig into tough problems and come up with creative solutions.

Some things you will work on:
Work with leadership to make sure the company is compliant in the markets we operate.
Draft, negotiate, and review commercial contracts form all areas of the business.
Play a major role in negotiations with current and potential partners across the healthcare value chain.
Manage corporate functions such as board level reporting, cap table management, and HR/employment.
Own the relationship with outside counsel across functions, from general corporate to healthcare to IP.
Lead and support the corporate development process, including diligence, debt, and equity financings.
Review and respond to time sensitive legal issues that arise.

You should have:
7+ years at a reputable law firm and/or in house experience at an early stage company in a highly regulated space.
Passion to create new type of healthcare company is a must. Experience in telemedicine, pharma, payers, health networks, or similar a plus.
Great communication skills and comfort interacting at the board level.
Superb judgement in evaluating and managing risk.
Expertise in contracts and comfort with negotiation.
Previous experience working with outside counsel a plus.
Passionate about the Keeps mission.
Eagerness to join an early-stage startup and build it from the ground up.

Benefits
Competitive salary and equity.
Great healthcare.
Regular team building activities.
Budget for the technology tools you need.
Unlimited vacation days and annual $1000 vacation stipend.
As an early hire on a close knit team, you will have the ability to help shape the company’s culture and future.

We are proud to be an equal opportunity workplace committed to building a team culture that celebrates diversity and inclusion.
