General Counsel

Aldevron is seeking a General Counsel to provide senior management with effective advice on company strategies and their implementation, manage the legal function, and obtain and oversee the work of outside counsel. In this position, you will be directly involved in complex business transactions in negotiating critical contracts.  You will handle the broad spectrum of legal issues related to biotechnology research, development, and manufacturing.

About the Role:

As General Counsel, you will participate in the development of legal strategy and direction for the company and provide continuing counsel and guidance on legal matters.  You will advise on the interpretation of legal documents and applicable laws and regulations in a manner that provides practical legal advice while properly managing risk to the organization.  You will serve as legal advisor on key business relationships including the management of client services and supply agreements and vendor agreements, and serve as key lawyer/legal advisor on all major business transactions, including acquisitions, divestitures and joint ventures.

About You:  

At least 5 year of experience in in delivering legal services to or within a complex organizational structure is required
Experience working as in-house counsel or external counsel responsible for providing legal advice on a broad set of general corporate matters preferred
Strong base of knowledge and experience advising clients on laws and regulations governing the pharmaceutical industry, including FDA regulations is preferred
Excellent organizational and planning skills and the capacity to simultaneously handle a variety of complex matters
Strong demonstrated experience drafting and negotiating contracts.
Well-organized and hardworking, with the ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously under deadline pressure
Sound business judgment and strategic thinking. Flexibility and an interest in working on a broad variety of legal matters in order to understand and advise the Company on legal implications of its business strategy
Ability to form strong working relationships with other employees and partners while maintaining firm adherence to proper legal standards
Education

A Juris Doctorate degree from an American Bar Association (ABA) accredited law school is required
